Paul Mitchell Academy and Hair Raising Craziness!

For one of the Young Women activities I was in charge of-we took the girls to the Paul Mitchell Hair Academy for a little presentation on confidence as well as some crazy styled up-dos. The girls has a lot of fun and hopefully they learned something too!

The Hair dressers taught the girls how to do affirmations-and encouraged them to do it each day when they got out of bed. An affirmation is saying something about yourself that is positive-whether it is something you are working on being better at- for example:I am a punctual person (most moms know that when you have kids, being on time is definitely a hard thing to master-I am working on it:)
Or it can be something you truly feel you are good at- an example would be:I am an empathetic person (well I would like to think so).... This helps build confidence in the person you are and the person you want to work towards becoming.

Try it!

Planes,,,,Planes,,,,Planes

Here are pictures of the actual planes...finally right:)

Other Air Show Happenings

While The boys were mesmerized by the planes in the sky...Katie was busy eating messy graham crackers, and playing in the dirt-she loves dirt-go figure:) Also, while we were waiting for the show to start, Tavin decided the take some pictures with my camera...he didn't do too bad actually: a head shot of grandma "fluffy hairs" and a shot of what was left of someones chicken gyro...don't ask how much that chicken gyro cost us...you might have a heart attack.

Air Show :The Blue Angels

We had a great time at the Idaho Falls Air show. It was really nice out-even a cool breeze every now and then-but by the end, we were all ready to go home to a nice cool house and showers. Tavin loved watching all the planes and was yelling at them: "go planes go!" He asked multiple times to ride them:) Maybe one day my little boy will be a pilot-every boys dream....I don't know if I could handle him being a stunt pilot though! One plane even had a wing walker (crazy lady who walks on the wings of the plane while it is flying).

I think my favorite was the sky writers and sky divers that had streamers attached to them as they glided to the ground. But Best of all, were the Blue Angels. We all stared in awe at the sky as they dove and swooped-almost riding on top of each other at times and making shapes in the sky. They would face off-heading straight for each other and then turn sideways right before they were about to hit....Heaven help their mothers!:) They were rockets in the sky.

Aside from watching my little boys face-watching Dan and Mason's face was entertaining as well. There is just something about things that go fast and things that do dangerous thrilling tricks that get guys! It is just there nature I guess:)

In Other News...

And As for the rest of us:

Tavin has been SPOILED to be able to see his grandparents every other week it seems these last couple months and we LOVE it! I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to see my parents more and to share my kids with them. Speaking of visits: they are due for one this weekend as a matter of fact for the Idaho Falls Air show and Pioneer Days Rodeo:) (watch for those pictures to come-I am sure they will be good ones!) He is such a lover and always has a hug for his mommy. He knows how to manipulate me too-last night he didn't want to go to bed, and after trying other methods with Dan of getting out of his room with no success, he plays his "I want to cuddle with my mommy for a little bit please"-card-and I melt. How can I give up a chance to hold my little boy (he isn't so little anymore-he's like a brick to pick up:) His new thing right now is to race-he likes to race everywhere. Or to have mommy or daddy chase him as he squeals down the hallway!

Me: the most recent news is that I am running my first 5K with my sisters Kimberly and Krisha in August and I am really excited. It has been one of my goals these last couple months as I've been getting back in shape. Oh by the way-I killed my goal weight-smashed it actually-and can now report that I am 117 and fit into a size 5/6. Don't worry-I am doing it all HEALTHILY! (Is that a word? Well it is now) I actually eat a ton-just of the right kind of stuff. Oh-let me tell you about this yummy snack Dan and I now eat-Graham crackers with frozen fat free cool whip in between-YUMMMM-I promise you will love it. P.S. losing the weight has taken me 6 and a half months! It didn't just melt off on its own (don't we all wish!)

Daniel: He is very much into getting debt free (not that we are in a lot of debt by the way) and has read Dave Ramsey's book, A Money Makeover as well as one recommended by an old college friend-Five Lessons I Learned From A Millionaire. Both books are actually really good and highly motivating-we recommend them! We now are in the process of selling out car to get our of car loans (from now on we will be buying our cars in cash) And once that is done, we will be debt free other than our house. It is a good goal to work towards. He has a softball final tonight and has done really well this year. (Other than the fly ball that he tried to catch with his face:)

Just Can't Get Enough of Her

Just got finished feeding Katie her breakfast (6:00am) and thought it might be a good time to blog while the family is still all asleep-nice and cozy in their beds. Our house has been a whirl wind of busy these last few weeks! And it only promises to get busier.

First let me tell you a little about Miss Katie K-she is now army crawling and gets around pretty well. She also can sit up by herself now from a laying position and often is sitting up waiting when I go to get her out of her crib. It is one of my favorites parts of the day-she is so smiley and excited to see me.

When she gets really excited, she blows out of her nose to let us know:) This usually happens when she is eating something-but she also does it while playing. She is developing and taking things in so much faster that Tavin did at this stage and I can't hardly believe it. She is already pulling herself up on things! One of the greatest things of all is that she is sleeping in her own crib in her own room-all night! Yay for mom and dad! She usually is more than ready for her last feeding at 8:00pm and wakes up anywhere between 6 and 7 am for milky before going back down.

Katie has just started going through her separation anxiety-it only happens at certain times (like last night when we left her and Tavin with a babysitter to go on a date-broke my heart)-but it just shows that she knows who we are and likes us:)

I adore her little spirit and personality-she is a very curious one! You would have thought I would know by now that she likes to tip the dog's water over-and put it up when she comes into the kitchen-but no-she does it 2 or 3 times before I finally get it put up:) At least she hasn't starte to eat the dog food.....yet
