Being Independent

Tavin is becoming independent and wants to feed himself, so mom and dad decided to let him. Thank goodness we have our dog Luna to lick up the floor afterwards. You will notice that on the side of Tavin's face, there is a darker color-that is pen:)

Mr. Potato Head

So I found this whole family of Mr. Potato Heads and we had fun putting them all together. Tavin and Mommy and then the big one is Daniel:)

Cool Dude

Tavin absolutely LOVES these sunglasses and hat that Auntie gave him! He wouldn't take them off and even insisted on taking a nap with the glasses on.

Mother's Day story: The Blue Bird Mommy

So It has been a while since we have put pictures up-I actually have a couple to post but when we went to upload them-the camera battery was dead. Sorry-all you anxious Tavin lovers out there (mainly my family and Daniel's family) you will have to wait until tomorrow. The Battery is now charging.

But just to give you something to read-thanks for visiting our blog by the way-I wanted to share a Mother's day story we heard on-of course-Mother's day about a Blue Bird Mommy and her chicks. When Yellowstone Park caught on fire a couple of years ago, and the rangers where letting the fire take it's course in order to promote new growth-they were of course concerned with the lives and homes of the animals in the forest during this time.

One ranger came upon a Birds nest in the area he was scouting out for animals who were hurt. The ranger grieved as he saw the beautiful blue robin whose wings were outstretched as far as her wing span could go. All of the feathers on her wings were charred and burned severely. The Ranger was perplexed at this-birds can easily evade fires by flying away from the danger-but this bird did not-it seemed to have sealed it's fate of being burned to death instead of flying away.

It wasn't until the Ranger began to walk away that he realized what caused the bird to stay in its nest. Faintly he could hear chirps coming from underneath the charred bird. Sure enough, as the ranger carefully removed the robin, there were 5 baby birds underneath her dead body. Instead of leaving her children to die by flying away, she accepted her fate and stayed to protect them.

A mother's love for her children even carries into the animal kingdom. Even now, while writing this story-days after I first heard it, it brings tears to my eyes. A mother's love is a bond that cannot be broken. She, like I and millions of mother's out there, would do anything for the safety and care of her children.
